Little girl, big heart.

Posted by Alvin (Singapore City, Singapore) on 29 January 2008 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

This is my very first attempt at getting a child to pose for a portrait. Soft lighting was coming in from the windows, along with a nice warmth inside the chapel of the Bethany Nursing Home. I have been shooting for a while, but I have never really connected with any of my subjects on an emotional level.

This girl, she connected with me the moment I stepped into the chapel. She warmed up to me so quickly that I was so compelled to take her photo. Seeing that I was here to take photographs, she subtly helped to divert people away from my line of sight. She's little, but I see a big heart. And a big smile.
